Children & Teen ADHD
Coaching offers young people with ADHD a supportive structure through which they can explore life options, learn new skills, and start to be more independent while in a safe space.
Coaching provides a sounding board, a source for ideas, and a safety net, all of which help the young person with ADHD try new ways of operating. A coach can help your child go after what he or she wants, collect him or herself when things go differently than planned, and then try again, each time growing a little wiser and a little more confident. An ADHD coach, helps a young person experience success in life, often for the first time, so that he or she starts to build a track record of accomplishment rather than failure. Over the course of the coaching partnership, the youngster develops self confidence and the resulting motivation to pursue goals rather than give up. He or she builds a toolbox of strategies to use now |
and in the future and begins to internalize the voice of the coach into his or her own thought processes.
Personally, I love to work with the entire family. If you are the parent (s) of a child or teen with ADD, I can help you begin to focus on your child’s strengths, rather than weaknesses, and build up your child’s self esteem, rather than merely watch as they struggle through their day. I can help you learn how to believe in your child and his or her ability to develop tools and skills that will help turn the challenges of ADHD into gifts. The earlier you address your youngster’s problems, the more likely you will be able to help him or her create a successful, productive, happy life. Early intervention holds the key to positive outcomes for your child. |
